Pettymys tietenkin ettei kukaan näyttänyt mitään uutta rautaa tuolla. Semmoista on todennäköisesti turha enää edes odotella ainakaan tämän vuoden puolella (jos ikinä). No jos se Panda on Hyperionin käsissä niin jos siitä nyt sitten tulis vielä jotain. Toi Jensin höpinä oli ihan hauskaa seurattavaa. Classic-Amigan piirisarjojen numeroista kun vääntää sopivilla matemaattisilla kaavoilla niin saa aikaiseksi vaikka elektronin tai protonin massan tai putoamiskiihtyvyyden vakion. Eli sen perusteella niiden täytyy olla maan ulkopuolisen elämän tuotoksia. Heh heh ! LOL ! Hauska juttu ! Mitäs se sanoikaan että "Cold fusion":ista saa väännettyä ? Ainakin kun järjestelee "Prometheus"-sanan kirjaimet uudelleen niin siitä tulee "rum to sheep" eli "viinaa eläimille" vapaasti tulkittuna. Heh ! | ||

"@tomazkid Thanks. So my report is this: Show was good. There were a number of vendors and a few speakers. Unfortunately, Bill E could not make it, as he had planned, but Jens S. was a good entertainer, and I did some tap dancing myself. I was attending the show mainly to find new Amiga hardware, since mine is so out-of date. But, sorry... no new hardware was available. Makes me wonder what's going on. I had many good chat sessions with many of the attendees. One of the main threads of conversation was this: if the PPC is such a big problem (as it appear it is), would it be possible to use cheap hardware for Amiga, like X86 motherboards? Yes, I know, believe me, I know what that means. But, you can order a very good motherboard for x86 over the net for US$100. So, is there a way to take advantage of that amazing economy of scale to help the Amiga? That was a subject of great debate and headscratching, and it is something to think about. Would you be willing for that Frankenstein X86 CPU to bring Amiga back into the hands of millions of users? Yes, millions. I can tell you that I think it is a good trade. I've got a basement of not-good-enough-for-XP boxes, and I would really like to see them run Amiga OS instead. That's my own situation, but think about the millions of businesses, homes, and schools that have exactly that same problem. Anyway, good show. Good people. We currently do not see any merit in adopting x86 hardware in view of the massive Linux style support issues and the fact that many OS components are unfortunately not endian agnostic. Please note that after 5 years of work (far too long because of inadequate funding) the initial "final version" of Amiga OS 4.0 is now around the corner (read: should be available before the end of the year). Sen suuremmin Amiwest tapahtumaa kommentoimatta.. (en ole jaksanut seurata mitä on ollut esillä): Jens tietää kohtuulisen paljon hardiksesta ja se teosta.. En osaa sanoa mitään esim ACK:n projekteista mutta näkisin kriittisen mielipiteen hyvin aihelliseksi kun puhutaan Coldfiresta ja/tai Troikan Amyp05/prometheus systeemeistä. HyperionMP:n teksti ei juurikaan kommentteja ansaitse.. (ainakaan ei ole mitään uutta sanottuna tai sanottavaksi) | ||
